When Whacky Works, Life Coaching
Janice Lung, EdD
Before you stave off the idea of hiring a life coach, ask four questions:
- Have you achieved the success you want? Already-successful women know how to work hard, set goals and take action. But success often means pushing some priorities to the back for so long that they no longer seem possible. And nearly everyone can identify one issue in which they have struggled for years.
- Do you feel stuck in another life? Harnessing change to something unchangeable can create a sense of “no choice.” Acceptance and release can be liberating, but doing it with an outside, unattached party results in acceptance.
- Is there something that you would like to change? This may be health-related such as weight loss, managing stress, or creating balance. Perhaps it is related to identifying life purpose, changing careers or finding a rewarding job or volunteer opportunity. Or a desire for a deeper spiritual connection, a more tranquil home environment, a satisfying personal relationship, financial freedom, or greater self-confidence.
- Are you ready to start? What often starts out as a “whisper of discontent” eventually becomes a “yell” and then the proverbial “2×4 upside the head!” This is usually the point where women begin to dream about change daily. The status quo no longer seems tenable. Armed with motivation, excitement and a willingness to work hard, emotionally healthy women are ready to begin.
Fueled by success in life, women are empowered to address obstacles they might not otherwise accept. Enlisting the help of a life coach will help them to more quickly and effectively set goals and take action. A coach will hold them accountable for following through, support them throughout the process and celebrate every step with them along the way – and that is anything but whacky!

Excellent. . It’s nice to get content like this. I’m from North east scotland and finding great content is not easy. keep up the great work.
Everyone can use a coach!!! A coach is someone to help you strategize and identify patterns that are sucking up valuable energy that would be better spent elsewhere, hold you accountable and move you forward. Coaches help you discover what comes next. A good coach can help you identify areas that are more likely to pay off in reaching your goals around health and well being.
I love this article and I really love the heart made out of nuts. My Question is how do you know when you become successful? Some times people comment on my success and it makes me feel awkward bc I don’t feel as successful as others.
I’m curious… do you feel comfortable sharing anything to help us get a look inside. Doesn’t it seem like everyone says they are, but who can you trust, right? Your inside view would be wonderful!
Janice is a phenomenal coach! Through her teaching, I realized my long-term goal. I hadn’t thought of looking at my professional life in the way that she taught. Appreciate her SO MUCH!
Oh, oops, let me try this again. I’m curious… do you feel comfortable sharing anything to help us get a look inside. Doesn’t it seem like everyone says they are, but who can you trust, right? Your inside view would be wonderful!
